Under Major League Baseball rules, hitters are permitted to use grip aids such as pine tar (within bat-handle limits), rosin, and other approved grip-enhancing substances.

YEW! Bat Wax functions as a clean, modern grip aid for hitters, designed to improve control without excessive residue.

Important clarification

• Grip-enhancing substances are not permitted for pitchers during live competition under MLB rules.

• We do not recommend using this product to gain an unfair advantage or violate pitching regulations.

Youth, High School, College & Travel Play

Most youth, high school, collegiate, travel, and independent leagues permit hitters to use bat grip aids, provided they do not create excessive residue or damage equipment. Enforcement and interpretation can vary by league, tournament, or umpire, so players should always follow their specific rules.

Community & Origins

During the COVID-19 pandemic, YEW! redirected its facilities to produce soap for students and families in need. That effort was covered by the Los Angeles Times. This limited soap run traces back to that period and reflects YEW!’s materials-first, community-driven approach.
